Llandudno Athletic create own piece of history

IT was a day to celebrate for Llandudno Athletic when they won their first-ever match last weekend.

The club rejoiced after beating Llysfaen 4-2 in their latest Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Division One fixture last Saturday.

Ashley Mckinstry was Athletic’s chief hero with a hat-trick, while Frazer Holness added another.

Athletic joined the league last season and finished bottom with no wins, one draw and 17 defeats.

They conceded 166 goals and scored just 14.

The team had lost their first two matches of the current campaign, but showed promise in going down just 4-3 to Colwyn Bay Youths and 5-3 at Rhos United Reserves.

It was all set up for a win last Saturday and the hosts delivered their first victory at the 21st attempt.

Henry Taylor and James Parker replied for Llysfaen.

In the Premier Division, Machno United drew 4-4 with Rhyl Town, Harry Roberts, Kevin Owen and Damien Eyre (2) on target.

In Division One, Llanfairfe­chan Town saw off Betws-y-Coed 4-0.

Colwyn Bay Youth triumphed 5-0 at Cerrigydru­dion, Adam Carpenter (2), Shaun Noble, Josh Grant and an own goal sealing it.

David Jones, Ryan Jones (2) and James Lloyd netted for Abergele in a 4-2 success at Rhos United Reserves, Iwan Jones and Ryan Vaughan for the hosts.
