PUPILS, governors, and staff at Ysgol Glan Gele in Conwy are celebrating after their recent ESTYN Inspection Report was published.

The popular Abergele Infant school was awarded Excellent in each of the key areas examined. The schools current performance was deemed to be excellent because “pupils make very strong progress as they move through the Foundation Phase” Inspectors also commented that “pupils’ writing is excellent and that the school provides outstanding levels of care support and guidance for pupils and parents.”

Prospects for Improvement were also Excellent because “the strategic leadership of the Head teacher” was also described as “outstanding”.

Chair of the Governing Body Cllr John Mac Lennan said: “When we were inspected six years ago we were awarded a Grade 1 in each area. As a Governing Body we were thrilled that yet again after another robust Inspection, recently, the hard work and excellence of Ysgol Glan Gele has once again been acknowledged. This demonstrates that as a school we are successful in maintaining our high standards for our pupils. The behaviour of the pupils was described as ‘exemplary’ and the standards they achieve overall in Ysgol Glan Gele as ‘excellent’. Teaching was also assessed by the Inspection team as being excellent as was Leadership.

“In terms of Inspection outcomes very few schools in Wales achieve excellent for each area examined and we are very proud as a whole school community that Ysgol Glan Gele is amongst this group. I would like to congratulate Head teacher Julia Buckley Jones and her dedicated team and of course the pupils of the school on their excellent achievement.”
