Charity walk takes group’s total to £250,000

FROM its humble beginnings in 1979, Bramcote and District Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research Group has gone on to raise more than £250,000 in support of cancer-related charities from a sponsored walk scheme.

Retired practice nurse Diane Jones, leukaemia survivor Keith Brown and his wife, Mary, are the current driving forces behind the support group.

More than 50 walkers, including representa­tives of the 2nd Bramcote Scout Group, Age Concern,local schools and businesses,spritely senior citizens and canine companions took part in the 2018 event.

The route took them around Bramcote, Cossall, Ilkeston and Erewash.
