Man arrested in crackdown on cyber crime
A WORKSOP man has been arrested as part of a national police operation to tackle cyber hacking.
The 28-year-old was one of seven people from across the country to be questioned about their separate online activities.
The arrests were made during a week-long operation co-ordinated by the National Crime Agency and the West Midlands Regional Organised Crime Unit.
The Worksop man has since been released under investigation while police continue to examine suspected computer misuse.
Detective Inspector Paul Carrington, from the East Midlands Special Operation Unit’s cyber crime unit, said: “Cyber crime can be extremely intrusive and disruptive, resulting in significant financial or service loss, as well as the misuse of personal information.”
