which represents thousands of families affected by the devastation caused by meningitis and associated diseases, I pass on our heartfelt sympathy to his family and friends.

I lost my baby son Spencer to the disease some time ago and can well imagine the pain that all those who knew Jordan are suffering.

Recognising the signs and symptoms, trusting your instincts and early diagnosis and treatment can all improve the outcomes of meningitis.

At Meningitis Now we are fighting back against all forms of meningitis-related disease.

Because it can strike quickly and be difficult to detect, we fund pioneering preventative research to wipe out the disease, as well as provide support and care to those affected. Steve Dayman. Meningitis Now

Stroud I AM sorry to advise all the OAP parishioners that the planned trip to Liverpool via Colwick Parish Council has been cancelled.

In my capacity as parish councillor, I booked the trip with Silverdale Coaches in the first week of January, for 8am to 7pm September 5.

I know how bitterly disappointed you will all be and I am, too, since I looked forward to seeing and being with you again.

I have spoken to Silverdale and it seems that the parish council has cancelled on the grounds that as I have retired, the PC are not bound by the booking and any subsequent invoice will not be paid.

I was a bona fide councillor at the time of booking and won my seat fair and square with the highest count of 661 votes.

My contract for the trip should therefore have been honoured.
