Go on a ghost hunt at hall

-

HERE’S your chance to meet the ghosts who reside in Strelley Hall. If you dare.

This September, the historic building will be the site of an overnight ghost hunt where believers in the paranormal will be given the opportunity to search the medieval hall in the hope of an encounter with the ghosts who are thought to reside there.

Dating back to the 1200s, the hall - which is about four miles north-west of Nottingham and is thought to have been a castle when it was first built in medieval times - has long been rumoured to have some ghostly activity going on inside its many walls.

Some believe that Nicholas Strelley, who once owned the building but gambled it away in the 1670s, a put a curse on it. Others say that it is here that “serving wenches lost their minds” and it is they who also haunt the building, in particular the Castle bedroom.

Ghostly activity has also been reported in the building’s cellar, with some claiming to have experienced poltergeist activity throughout its narrow passages that lead to a spooky underground dungeon, once used to hold prisoners.

Those who attend the event will have the opportunity to use professional ghost-hunting equipment, while table tipping, glass divination and vigils will also take place throughout the night.

It’s on September 7 from 9pm until 2.30am. Tickets cost £45 and are available from dusttilldawnevents.co.uk.
