Taking up new role at club is real privilege

-

DARREN Fletcher said he was “honoured and privileged” to become Notts County vicechairman and is eager to build on the club’s outstanding progress of the last 18 months.

The BT Sport commentator and Five Live presenter was handed the role by chairman Alan Hardy on Thursday and will continue to help develop the Magpies on and off the pitch.

Fletcher had joined the club’s board in January 2017 when he was part of Hardy’s group of directors, with his wealth of football contacts proving extremely useful.

His work has now been rewarded with the vice-chairman role and Fletcher admits he is excited by what the future holds.

“Having been born in Nottingham and growing up in the city, to be handed such an important role is an honour and a privilege,” he said.

“It was a very proud moment for me and I have to pinch myself really because Notts is a wonderful football club steeped in great history.

“We feel we’ve got the right management team in place, we’ve built momentum and now it’s about continuing it.

“These are hugely exciting times.”
