Soudani signs... and there are more to come
REDS CLINCH DEAL FOR ALGERIAN STRIKER
NOTTINGHAM Forest have confirmed the capture of Hillal Soudani, on a 3m euro move from Dinamo Zagreb.
The 30-year-old Algeria international has signed a three-year contract – and is expected to be followed by at least one further new addition over the course of the weekend.
The Reds are also close to agreeing a deal with defender Jack Robinson, 24, who recently turned down the offer of a new contract at QPR and is a free agent as a result – and he is expected to be the next new arrival at the Championship club.
It is understood that further talks have also been held with Daniel Podence, the former Portugal Under-21 international, but that deal is not currently as close to fruition.
Algerian international Soudani held positive talks over the last week, with the Reds having resumed the interest they initially had in him back in January.
Soudani scored 17 goals in 28 league appearances for the Croatian club last season, having previously played for ASO Chief in Algeria and Portuguese club Vitoria de Guimaraes. In 277 league appearances for all three clubs, he has netted 130 goals.
Soudani is far from Forest’s only forward target, as boss Aitor Karanka looks to bolster his attacking arsenal for a push for the top six in the coming campaign. Forest also have a strong interest in Middlesbrough’s former Red Patrick Bamford, who was taken to the Riverside by Karanaka.
Lewis Grabban, the Bournemouth forward, is also towards the top of their list of targets, although Leeds are also interested in him. Norwich’s Nelson Oliveira is another on the Championship club’s radar.
But Karanka was keen to add some experienced finishing power to his squad, before the new campaign kicks off and Soudani will provide exactly that.
