Liam wants to raise £100k for clinical trials
moment is really good. I could be alive for another 50 years but I could be alive for another year. It’s so weird.
“My health and my age is on my side. I just stick two fingers up at it now.”
Liam, who is currently focusing on making memories with his three-year-old daughter and 25-year-old wife, Briony, wants to raise £100,000 for Mesothelioma UK to fund a clinical trial into the disease.
He said: “I am not under any treatment as, thankfully, my cancer hasn’t grown.
“Therefore, whilst I am still able, it would be my dream to be able to give something back to the people who supported my family through our darkest hours.”
He hopes to kick-start his fund- raising campaign with a bike ride from his home in Swinderby, Lincolnshire, where he moved to from Hucknall three months ago, to Alicante in Spain - a journey of around 1,400m.
He has planned his route and has the support of his family but Liam needs some donations to help him on his way, including a bike and first-aid kits.
Liz Darlison, head of services at Mesothelioma UK, said: “The vast majority of patients diagnosed with mesothelioma are over 60. It’s unusual to have a patient under 40.
“However, there are a few people like Liam – and even younger – in the UK currently with mesothelioma.
“Sadly, asbestos is the only known cause and it’s completely preventable.”
Liam has set up a Just Giving page to help with his bid. You can find it at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/briony-bradley
