Health centres upgraded following new inspection

-

A MEDICAL provider is celebrating after inspectors raised the ratings of three of its health centres to “good” including one which was previously judged to be “inadequate”.

Beechdale Medical Group manages four health centres across Nottingham - all of which were inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in May last year and judged to be either “inadequate” or “requires improvement”.

New inspection reports show three of the health centres were inspected again in February and March this year and have since had their ratings raised to ‘good.’

Boulevard Medical Centre, in Bobbers Mill, and RHR Medical Centre, in Strelley, had both been previously rated as “requires improvement”.

The biggest improvements were made at Beechdale Surgery, in Beechdale, which had previously been judged as “inadequate”.

The surgery, which has around 3,900 patients on its books, is now considered to be “good” in all areas

The CQC report highlights a number of examples of good practice at the surgery, including regular risk assessments and reviews of the effectiveness and appropriateness of care provided by staff.

The report notes areas of improvement. It states: “Arrangements to respond to emergencies had been significantly improved; arrangements had been standardised across the practice group.”

The report also praises staff for treating patients with “compassion, kindness, dignity and respect”.

Beechdale Medical Group also runs Strelley Health Centre, in Strelley, which was rated “inadequate” in November last year.

The latest CQC report for the centre, published in February, shows that it still holds the same rating.

Nottingham City Clinical Commissioning Group said: “We’re very pleased that the CQC has recognised the improvements made at the Beechdale Medical Group’s practices.

“The fact the group has made significant progress in addressing the issues identified in the previous reports is testament to the hard work and dedication of the practice management and staff.

“We are still awaiting the latest CQC report for Strelley Health Centre.”
