Line of Duty 5 on its way

- By EMILY HUTCHINSON

VICKY Mcclure is getting ready to reprise her role as Detective Sergeant Kate Fleming in the BBC One drama Line of Duty.

Series creator Jed Mercurio shared a photo of Vicky and her co-stars Martin Compston (Detective Sergeant Steve Arnott) and Adrian Dunbar (Superintendent Ted Hastings) on the set this week, revealing that there’s now just one month to go until they reunite to start filming series five.

“One month to go till we start shooting #Lineofduty Series 5 with @martin_compston @Vicky_ Mcclure and Adrian Dunbar,” he captioned the photo. “Counting down till the gang gets back together.”

The photo was a big hit with fans, received more than 5,000 likes and hundreds of retweets as fans expressed their excitement for new episodes of the cop drama.

Vicky, who hails from Wollaton and still considers Nottingham her home, then retweeted the snap and shared a message of her own ahead of starting work on the new series. “ONE MONTH!!! Time to start learning some lines!” the actress said on Twitter, revealing that she believed Jed, who created and writes the drama, “has upped the game once again” with the new episodes.

It was confirmed earlier this year that filming for the new series would begin in autumn , with new episodes expected to debut on BBC One in 2019.

Jed has been speaking out about what fans can expect from series five over the past few months, teasing that things may be a little different moving forward . “Steve (Martin Compston) and Kate (Vicky Mcclure) are now characters in their 30s, rather than in their 20s, and Hastings (Adrian Dunbar) has been heading AC-12 for a good number of years now,” he told Digital Spy.

“So, all of these things have to be looked at in terms of the evolution of the characters, and we have to keep moving forward. There does come a point where we have to develop things in a new direction if they’re to remain exciting and fresh dramatically.”
