Dennis hopes to break his Stags duck

Nottingham Post - - SPORT -

KRISTIAN Dennis is hoping to add Mansfield Town to the list of clubs he has scored against and says scoring for Notts County against their local rivals would be “extra special”.

The joint top scorer is expected to lead the front line against the Stags in the much-anticipated derby at the One Call Stadium as Neal Ardley prepares to take charge of his first league game since being appointed manager.

Dennis has already had a taste of what he can expect today, having played for Chesterfield against Mansfield last season, a game which also has a white-hot atmosphere.

He didn’t score in either game but is hoping to put that right against David Flitcroft’s promotion contenders and secure bragging rights for the Magpies.

“It’s a massive game and a big derby,” he said.

“I played in the Chesterfield v Mansfield derby last season, so I kind of know what the atmosphere will be like.

“But I am looking forward to it. “We need a win from any game at the minute because of where we are in the table.

“But against your local rivals you want to send the fans home happy.

“There’s a bit of extra spice this weekend and hopefully we can win.

“I’ve not scored against Mansfield before but hopefully that will change this weekend.

“To score in any game is good, but to score against your local rivals is always extra special.”
