YACOB AND MESSI SHARE SAME DREAM

ARGENTINE MIDFIELDER HAS UNFINISHED BUSINESS IN TOP FLIGHT

CLAUDIO Yacob says even fellow Argentine Lionel Messi must dream of playing in the Premier League – and insists he still has unfinished business of his own there with Nottingham Forest.

Midfielder Yacob spent six years playing in the top flight with West Brom, prior to joining the Reds as a free agent this summer.

But he hopes his move to the Championship is only a temporary one, as he still has big ambitions to return to the Premier League with Aitor Karanka’s side.

Yacob, 31, says the only reason he joined Forest was because he was convinced of their desire – and ability – to win promotion this season.

And, with the Reds sitting in a decent position within the top six, the midfielder wants to see them maintain their momentum by beating Preston at the City Ground today.

“To play in the Premier League in England is a dream for every player,” said Yacob. “I do not know Messi but I know he has spoken about playing in the Premier League one day. That is the dream for any player.

“I used to watch Premier League football when I was young. In Argentina, the 3pm games here would normally be on at midday there.

“I would be eating with my family and I remember always watching games. It was a dream for me to come here to play.

“This is why it was clear to me that the owner and the manager really want to go up. That is important.

“Because I really want to go to the Premier League again. I do not feel I am finished there yet, I want to get back to playing there.”

Yacob says that since joining Forest in September, he feels that

something special could be on the horizon for Forest.

And he believes that, if they do not achieve their goals this season, it will not be down to lack of desire or determination.

“I can feel, since I have been here, that something has happened a long time ago and the fans are still very hungry to get back there and to win something,” he said.

“It does not feel possible that this club has not been in the Premier League for so long.

“You have not seen Gerrard, Rooney or all these players play here, on this pitch.

“But it does not matter what has happened in the past. Now, hopefully, we can get this for Nottingham Forest.

“I came here for a different challenge and the challenge was to achieve something good.”
