Ardley urges players to show fight

Nottingham Post - - SPORT -

NEAL Ardley has vowed to fight tooth and nail to preserve Notts County’s Football League status but says he needs his players to do the same.

The Magpies were left six points adrift of safety at the foot of the League Two table, after Greg Taylor’s header secured Cambridge a 1-0 win at Meadow Lane.

More than 15,000 fans turned out as Notts huffed and puffed. But the nearest they came to scoring was when Kristian Dennis struck a shot right across the goalline.

With results going against them elsewhere, Notts are in desperate trouble at the bottom.

But Magpies boss Ardley said: “We had too many nerves.

“I’m used to having a team who are bursting to get out there. But we’re working hard to motivate them.

“I’ll keep going until the end and I need them to do the same.”
