A spokesperson for the De Vere East Midlands Conference Centre and Orchard Hotel, which sponsors the category, said: “This award champions the best of Nottinghamshire’s many not-for-profit organisations and recognises their contribution to our ever-changing community.

“Over the past 32 years, we have played an active role in supporting charities, associations and not-forprofit organisations; whether it’s delivering memorable events or sponsoring charities to help them with their goals. We recognise the vital work involved and the benefits achieved in the wider community through the important work they do.”

SOME of Nottinghamshire’s bestperforming and most innovative companies will be celebrated this year as the prestigious Nottingham Post Business Awards returns.

The annual event is set to take place on May 22 at the East Midlands Conference Centre, Nottingham, with firms of all sizes being recognised for their success over the last 12 months.

There will be a total of 15 categories in 2019 including Start-up Business of the Year, Customer Service Excellence and the coveted Company of the Year title.

Two new categories will also be in place this year – Excellence in Innovation and Partnership of the Year.

Matthew Bunn, Nottingham Post business editor, said: “These awards celebrate the achievements of businesses and business owners across our area and we are delighted to once again be able to showcase the talent we have in Nottinghamshire.

“The standard of entries last year was remarkably high and I am looking forward to seeing a similar calibre again in 2019.”

The winner of 2018’s Company of the Year gong was Nottinghamheadquartered student affinity network UNIDAYS, which provides students access to discounts on brands including ASOS, Nike and Apple. It currently has 10 million users worldwide.

This award is open to businesses that have performed outstandingly throughout the year and can demonstrate their contribution to the regional business community.

A spokesman for BMI The Park Hospital, which is sponsoring the award in 2019, said: “BMI The Park Hospital are delighted to be a part of the 2019 Nottingham Post Business Awards. We have been caring for the people of Nottingham for over 35 years, looking after thousands of local people every year.

“We are proud to sponsor the company of the year award; we think it’s a fantastic way to showcase some of the truly great businesses and talent within our great county. We look forward to celebrating the successes of many local businesses and individuals at the awards.”

It is not just big and established businesses that are in the running for recognition through the awards, however.

The Start-up Business of the Year category is for companies that have been in existence for a maximum of three years and can demonstrate making a big impact in that time.

Last year, SEO and digital marketing service Marketing Labs took home the award after seeing its services recommended by the East Midlands Chamber.

Meanwhile, the Apprentice Employer of the Year category, sponsored by Futures for Business, will recognise firms that provide opportunities for young jobseekers in the area.

Sandra Cowley, commercial director at Futures for Business, said: “We are pleased to be celebrating the role apprenticeships play in the success and ambition of so many Nottingham businesses and are looking forward to meeting with employers and their teams to celebrate the best of business in Nottingham.”

Nominations are now open for the 2019 Nottingham Post Business Awards and there will be five weeks for nominations to be made.

Each award will have a category sponsor who is responsible for choosing the shortlisted finalists and eventual winners, with a number of local businesses coming on board.

And it is not just businesses that are recognised through the awards. Organisations that make a contribution to their community can also be recognised through the Not For
