Grant is latest to join Stags

-

JORGE Grant has moved to Mansfield Town on loan, to join a growing band of Nottingham Forest players at the League Two club.

The attacking midfielder has joined the Stags until the end of the season, where he could play alongside striker Tyler Walker and keeper Jordan Smith.

Mansfield now have three players on loan from the Reds, with 24-year-old Grant having made the move to north Notts shortly after being recalled from a previous loan spell at Luton Town.

Grant made 17 starts and five substitute appearances for the League One club, in all competitions, scoring four goals.

But he had found himself down the pecking order with the Hatters in recent times and will hope to get more regular football at Mansfield, under manager David Flitcroft.

Walker has already scored 16 goals in 29 starts and three substitute appearances for the Stags and is playing a key role in their push for promotion.

Keeper Smith joined on loan last week and made his debut in the 1-0 defeat against Yeovil Town on Saturday.

And now Grant could become a third Forest player to slot into the squad when Stags face Crawley Town tonight.

“When you look at the work we’ve done this season and dominated teams, along with our style of play and strategy, it is imperative that we get quality in during this transfer window,” boss Flitcroft told the Stags website.

“Jorge represents real quality in the final third and we’re talking about somebody who is clinical and productive in that top part of the pitch with assists and goals.

“The relationship he has with Tyler was an important factor in his signing and their link-up on the pitch will be so important in moving forward.

“Our owners and Greg (Abbott, head of football operations) have worked tirelessly on delivering this signing.”

Notts County had asked about taking Grant on loan in the last few days but were not successful in their approach.
