No decision on stadium homes until new year

A DECISION on plans to build a new residential block as part of Nottingham Forest’s stadium redevelopment has been delayed.

The block, which would include a gym, retail area and car park and would be 19 floors high, is planned as part of an ambitious redevelopment project at the famous ground.

The block is planned for the left side of the Peter Taylor stand - which is due to be rebuilt.

Improvements are also planned to the three other sides of the ground and the project is hoped to increase the overall capacity of the City Ground to 38,000.

The decision on the plans has been delayed by three months until Tuesday, January 19 2021.

This is because of further revisions with the residential element of the proposals as well as highways and other minor alterations.

Michelle Dunne, principal area planning officer at Rushcliffe Borough Council, said in a letter to the applicants: “As you are aware we have been undertaking further discussions regarding the design aspects of the residential element of the proposal and are presently waiting for further revised plans to be received and considered.

“We look forward to receiving this information and an update on remaining highways and other matters in the very near future to allow the necessary consultation with external consultees.”

The plans, designed by worldrenowned architects Benoy, would increase the capacity of the stand to 10,000 and also deliver new facilities, including a museum and club shop.

The residential block would house “up to 250 dwellings”.

There have been a number of consultations and changes to the plans since it was first submitted to the council back in 2019.

Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Executive Manager for Communities Dave Mitchell said: “We continue to work with the applicant to try and resolve outstanding matters raised during the consultation on the planning application.”
