Last new project for The Meadows?

DEVELOPER SAYS LITTLE LAND LEFT IN AREA

A FIRM which has built new housing in The Meadows says its latest project could be the last in the area.

Blueprint started building in The Meadows in 2010 when it launched Green Street, an £8 million sustainable housing project and a groundbreaking development with features such as a mechanical heat ventilation system.

But with more than half the homes at Meadows Green, their third development in the Old Meadows, now being reserved, the company has issued a statement about its future in the area.

Development manager Alec Hamlin said: “With little land available in the area and the Old Meadows’ new status as a conservation area, this could be the last site for Blueprint in this great riverside location.”

After its first project, the firm continued the energy saving theme of their properties with their next project Hobart & Pitcarin and now the final part in the jigsaw is Meadows Green – a development in two parts: Mundella, a building that was once Trent Bridge School and is now being turned into 10 apartments, and Trent Works, made up of one, two and three-bed new build homes.

At Mundella, Art Deco features remain and the building has been converted into 10, two and threebedroom open-plan apartments with high ceilings and set around a standout sheltered courtyard garden.

Throughout the refurbishment the building’s heritage has been celebrated. Along the way, 19 former students took a tour of the building.

In February 2019 the former pupils, students at the school in the 1960s, reminisced about how the boys would attend school downstairs in the two-storey building, learning skills such as metalwork, woodwork, science and technology; while the girls worked upstairs taking classes in needlework and cookery.

Across the road at Trent Works, one-to four-bedroom homes are being built. Fourteen of the 24 energy-efficient townhouses and apartments have been reserved and Mr Hamlin said: “We’ve worked with top Nottingham architects Marsh Grochowski to ensure the properties at Meadows Green are designed to complement the historic architectural character of the area, whilst still offering the very latest in design and environmental credentials.”

There are now just 16 homes for sale at Meadow Green.
