WORK is set to begin on a huge new office building opposite Nottingham Railway Station.

City-based developer Bildurn says the new build at number 11 Station Street – which sits next Hopkinson Vintage Art Centre – will eventually provide more than 51,000 sq ft of office space.

Construction will commence shortly after the demolition of numbers 11-19, and director Sean Akins told the Post this will start on January 25.

He added: “This will provide us with a clear window between completion of demolition and the start of the main building works.”

The demolition follows the opening of the £24m Vita student accommodation scheme in the same street.

Bildurn says the architecture will be “contemporary” by design and the building will feature secure basement parking and a cycle-storage area.

The office fit-out will take 10 weeks and looks to be completed in the first quarter of 2022.

In total there will be four floors and the building will mark yet another drastic change to the city centre skyline.

Bildurn’s other notable projects include The Pod, office space in Lace Market Square, and the refurbishment of a Grade-ii listed building in Bridlesmith Gate.

A Bildurn spokesperson added: “Station Street is a new landmark mixed used scheme located directly opposite Nottingham’s principal railway station and tram interchange and in close proximity to the city centre.

“Station Street provides an ideal situation for brand new Grade A office accommodation within the city’s central business district and benefits from the city centre’s retail, leisure and cultural amenities.

“11 Station Street will provide substantial brand new Grade A office accommodation featuring large open floor plates in the most well connected location in the city of Nottingham.

“It will be one of two new buildings to be built as part of a mixed use scheme.”
