Mother and daughter terrrorised in burglary

-

A MUM and daughter were forced to sit on the kitchen floor and had food, milk and water poured over them after being attacked during a burglary.

Nottinghamshire Police were called to Vellus Court in Sutton-inashfield after a report of an aggravated burglary at around 7pm on Monday.

Police say “high-valued Asian jewellery” was stolen during the horrific incident.

It was reported five men knocked on the door and attacked the victims with a long metal stick.

Police are now appealing for witnesses and information. No arrests have been made at this stage.

Detective Sergeant Mark Shaw, who is leading the investigation, said: “This must have been a very frightening experience for those involved.

“The victim’s suffered injuries and an ambulance was called.

“A large police presence were swiftly on the scene and saw that the victims covered in food and liquid.

“Officers will be providing ongoing support for the family as a team of detectives work tirelessly to trace those responsible.

“Burglary is an extremely invasive crime and has huge impacts for those involved, both homeowners and retailers who, in particular, are already facing various challenges in the current climate.

“We are following up a number of lines of enquiry to get these men in custody but I would appeal for anyone who has information, CCTV or dash-cam footage of anything suspicious in the area to come forward as soon as possible especially between the times of 6pm and 7.15pm.

“Anyone with information is urged to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 548 of January 25, 2021.”
