THIS THEATRE SHOW WILL LEAVE YOU
HUNGRY FOR MORE
IT’S curtains up for fans of Eric Carle, who’ll be delighted to know that the hit stage production of The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show is now available to stream until the end of February.
Filmed in front of a live audience at Hertford Theatre in December, the show was originally released for a limited period over Christmas but, with the UK back in lockdown, it’s been extended by seven weeks.
The theatrical recreation of Carle’s imaginative stories, four master puppeteers weave their way through his tales, bringing to life a menagerie of 75 puppets.
The show faithfully recreates the colourful world of Carle, featuring four classic stories – Brown Bear, Brown Bear; 10 Little Rubber Ducks; Dream Snow and, of course, The Very
Hungry Caterpillar.
Carle’s books have captivated generations of readers with their iconic hand-painted illustrations and simple stories. The American has illustrated more than 70 books, most of which he also wrote, and more than 169 million copies of his books have sold around the world.
The best-known, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2019. It has been translated into 62 languages and sold over 54 million copies, remaining one of the top 10 bestselling children’s books of all time.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show can be streamed until February 28, priced from £14.50 for a three-day pass to £18.50 for a seven-day pass. It is recommended for ages one to six, but is suitable for all ages, and lasts 50 minutes.
