IT’S curtains up for fans of Eric Carle, who’ll be delighted to know that the hit stage production of The Very Hungry Caterpilla­r Show is now available to stream until the end of February.

Filmed in front of a live audience at Hertford Theatre in December, the show was originally released for a limited period over Christmas but, with the UK back in lockdown, it’s been extended by seven weeks.

The theatrical recreation of Carle’s imaginativ­e stories, four master puppeteers weave their way through his tales, bringing to life a menagerie of 75 puppets.

The show faithfully recreates the colourful world of Carle, featuring four classic stories – Brown Bear, Brown Bear; 10 Little Rubber Ducks; Dream Snow and, of course, The Very

Hungry Caterpilla­r.

Carle’s books have captivated generation­s of readers with their iconic hand-painted illustrati­ons and simple stories. The American has illustrate­d more than 70 books, most of which he also wrote, and more than 169 million copies of his books have sold around the world.

The best-known, The Very Hungry Caterpilla­r, celebrated its 50th anniversar­y in 2019. It has been translated into 62 languages and sold over 54 million copies, remaining one of the top 10 bestsellin­g children’s books of all time.

The Very Hungry Caterpilla­r Show can be streamed until February 28, priced from £14.50 for a three-day pass to £18.50 for a seven-day pass. It is recommende­d for ages one to six, but is suitable for all ages, and lasts 50 minutes.
