Water problem forces temporary closure of Forest Rec centre
CORONAVIRUS vaccination appointments were cancelled at Nottingham’s Forest Recreation Ground centre because of a water issue.
The Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) said the site at the Forest Park and Ride, just off Gregory Boulevard, had to be closed with short notice on Tuesday evening.
It had only just opened on Saturday.
Speaking of the closure in a tweet at 7pm, a spokesperson for the CCG said: “Forest Recreation Ground vaccination site has had to close due to a water issue. All appointments for this evening have been cancelled.”
The closure of the new site comes just days after it was revealed Nottinghamshire had some of the lowest vaccination rates in England, with just 25 people over 80 receiving the second dose of the vaccine as of
January 17.
This was later revealed by public health bosses to be the result of supply issues, with the county not receiving stock of the jabs until January 4.
The data released last week revealed a total of 49,336 people had been vaccinated across the city and county as of January 17.
The CCG added: “Any affected appointments will be re-booked as a priority.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
NET says the site was situated next to the Forest tram stop for easy access, and trams will be running every 10 minutes for those wishing to use public transport to get there.
Andrew Conroy, chief operating officer of Tramlink, said: “The Forest Park and Ride site is an ideal choice for a vaccination centre, located near the centre of Nottingham with plenty of space and good access.”
