-

AN interactive map released by the Government has shown there are currently eight Covid hotspots in the county.

The figures, accurate for the seven days ending February 10, show how many Covid cases individual areas have reported during that period.

There are now eight areas in the county with an infection rate above 400 per 100,000 people.

This means their rolling rate is far above the national average.

The neighbourhood of Compton Acres and Lutterell has an infection rate of 400.5 due to 38 cases in the most recent seven day period.

Meanwhile, Bobbers Mill’s Covid rate currently stands at 481.1 – there have been 47 cases in the past week.

The neighbourhood encompassing Broxtowe and Cinderhill in the city has a rolling rate which is slightly lower, at 473.1 per 100,000 people with 46 cases recently in the area.

Bulwell remains the worstaffected area in the county for Covid, with both Bulwell North and Bulwell West recording rates above 400 per 100,000 people.

Bulwell North’s rate is 411.9 and Bulwell West 557.5.

The town of Southwell’s rate is 419.7.

In north Nottinghamshire, the areas of East Kirkby – 410.1 – and Sutton Forest Side and New Cross – 411.7 – are also classed as hotspots for the virus.

Jonathan Gribbin, director for Public Health for Nottinghamshire, said: “There are some concerns around ensuring that we don’t level off at the current level of case rates that we’re seeing.

“It’s really important that we continue to secure further reductions, because that’s what going to keep people safe.

“With all the encouraging news around the vaccination, I think we need to all feel encouraged to keep going with lockdown rules.”
