Driver held on suspicion of GBH
POLICE have arrested a man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and dangerous driving following an incident after protests in Nottingham.
A video began circulating on social media following the incident, which took place in Fisher Gate at around 3pm on Saturday.
It followed the pro-palestine and ‘Kill the Bill’ protests in Old Market Square, with demonstrators then making their way into other parts of the city.
A man suffered leg injuries as a result of the incident, which remains under investigation.
Nottinghamshire Police have confirmed that a 51-year-old remains in police custody after being arrested yesterday.
Assistant Chief Constable Gerard Milano, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We’ve arrested a man as part of a live investigation into an incident that happened in Fisher Gate at around 3pm yesterday (Saturday).
“As a result of our ongoing enquiries, we are questioning a 51-year-old man on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and dangerous driving. He remains in police custody.”
A Nottinghamshire Police spokesperson added: “A man suffered leg injuries as a result of the incident which remains under investigation.
“Anyone who saw what happened or who has any information which could help officers with their enquiries is asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 586 of May 14.”
