TENANTS at a Nottingham home have been evicted following “persistent” anti-social behaviour.

Police attended the house in Thurman Street in Radford to issue a notice requiring them to attend court.

It comes after a number of reports of antisocial behaviour at the property were made to police over the last year.

The house was closed after a hearing at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

Neighbourhood Policing Inspector Amy English said: “Today’s action is the consequences of persistent offending that has had a massive impact on the local community in Thurman Street.

“Residents should be reassured that we will listen to any reports you make to us with a view to taking appropriate and proportionate action against those who are responsible for causing harm.

“We have received multiple reports of issues involving the address involving anti-social behaviour and other matters.

“It is not fair that hard-working people should have to put up with this and I am pleased that we have taken proactive action to get this sorted.”

The closure order means that the house has been immediately closed and the tenants have been evicted.

Inspector English has encouraged communities to continue to report incidents to the police.

She added: “We can only take action if incidents are reported to us, so please continue to let us know about anything that concerns you in the local area.

“The Radford Road neighbourhood policing team and Operation Reacher team are here for you.

“We will listen and we will take action.”

Steve Feast, director of housing at Nottingham City Homes, said: “Our team at NCH has worked with Nottinghamshire Police throughout this case, and continue to do so.

“The property closure will prevent the perpetrators from being in the property, and will offer some respite to the community.

“We know that residents of Thurman Street are looking forward to the area becoming a pleasant place to live once more once the order is in place.

“All our tenants have the right to enjoy their homes peacefully.

“We have tried to engage with the perpetrator about this situation, and have advised her to seek legal advice, but she has failed to engage with us or any other agency.”

He added: “We welcome the opportunity to work with Nottinghamshire Police on cases such as this that reinforce our zero tolerance approach to criminal activity on our estates.”
