Major makeover for Manvers Arms

-

A VILLAGE pub that closed down in December 2019 is set to undergo a major refurbishment to rejuvenate the rundown property.

The revamp will breathe new life into the Manvers Arms, in Main Road, Radcliffe-on-trent.

Both inside and outside - where the signs have fallen off the front will be transformed in a bid to turn it into a booming community pub.

A new alfresco dining area will be created and each of the three bars will be refurbished, while maintaining their unique character.

The improvements include new fixtures and fittings, a new kitchen, and new toilets.

New food and drinks menus will feature traditional hearty meals, bar bites, cask ales, fruit ciders, timehonoured beers and contemporary wines and spirits.

Live sports action will also be shown.

A spokesperson for owners Star Pubs & Bars said: “Subject to finalising an agreement with new operators, we would like to undertake a major refurbishment of The Manvers Arms.

“The project will upgrade the pub throughout and transform it into a great quality community local serving an extended drinks selection as well as good food.

“The garden will also be significantly improved. If all goes to plan, the works would be undertaken in time for the pub to reopen during the autumn.”

The 18th century pub closed just before the start of the pandemic. The previous tenants, who ran the business for four years, said November 2019 had been a “very tough month”.

In a parting plea they urged drinkers to support their local or face losing it for good.
