NOTTS County owners Christoffer and Alexander Reedtz are part of an investment group which has acquired a majority share of Danish Superliga side Viborg FF.

The news was confirmed by the Magpies in an official statement in which the Reedtz brothers assured supporters it will not impact their running of the world’s oldest professional club in “any way”.

The Reedtz brothers are part of a group which consists of local Danish investors and is being led by Jesper Søgaard who is behind the Better Collective company.

They have acquired approximately 70 per cent of the shares in Viborg FF for 42.3 million kroner (£4.8m), the details of which were announced during a live stream yesterday.

But the Reedtz brothers, who have stressed their focus remains on Notts, hope they can help make them an established Superliga side following their promotion last season.

Christoffer and Alexander said: “We are very pleased to be part of a project to establish Viborg as a competitive Superliga side in the long term and look forward to making positive contributions to the club through our established and everimproving analysis models.

“Our enjoyable experience of professional football led to us making this decision and we believe deploying our methods in another culture and environment will be beneficial to both Viborg and Notts County in the future.

“We have thoroughly enjoyed our two years so far at the world’s oldest professional club and our investment in Viborg does not affect our ownership in any way.

“It’s been very encouraging to see Michael Doyle and Sam Slocombe commit their future to us and we remain in regular dialogue with Ian Burchnall, Jason Turner and the recruitment team as we look to build a promotion-winning side.

“We would also like to say a huge thank you to the Notts supporters for their incredible response to our season tickets going on sale. We can’t wait to see you all at Meadow Lane soon.”

The news comes just little under two years since the Reedtz brothers acquired Notts from previous owner Alan Hardy.

During their time at the helm at Meadow Lane, they have seen the club reach the National League play-offs for two consecutive seasons.

Last year, they just missed out on an instant return to the Football League after losing to Harrogate in the play-off final at Wembley under previous manager Neal Ardley.

And this year Notts came up short again as they lost to Torquay United in the semi-finals under head coach Ian Burchnall having lost 4-2 after extra time at Plainmoor.
