Who’s really doing the insulting, Mr Cooper?

-

IN response to RL Cooper (“It’s not the NHS staff who are insulting us”, Opinion, August 10), he states that I display utter ignorance of “what goes on” and then implies I’m a hypocrite for clapping because the Government tells me to.

I take it then that you did not clap to show support for your former colleagues, as you weren’t going to be told what to do by the “clown” Johnson but to then imply that those that did clap are hypocrites with no mind of their own shows that you are the one who is being insulting!

I think you also misunderstood my letter as I made no mention of partaking in the clapping to show support nor did I say I hadn’t. That was merely your assumption.

I would argue that most NHS staff are ignorant of the history of the service they work for anyway so to say they behave as they always behaved since 1947 makes one wonder what exactly that behaviour is.

You then go off on a tangent to reel off your work history which read like a CV and was very informative but hardly relevant to the original subject matter.

You’ve worked hard doing long hours for not as much as you think you deserve, Welcome to the club – 99 percent of the working population probably feel the same as you do.

I have worked in a social care environment throughout the pandemic and continue to do so along with thousands of others in all manner of occupations. You’re nothing special and if you were you wouldn’t have spent 40 years being underpaid, undervalued and overworked. How ironic!
