THREE QUARTERS OF THE HOUSES ARE NOW SOLD

ALMOST 90 families have been housed at a Mansfield development which is now more than half completed.

The estate in Berry Hill, just off Sherwood Way East, by

developer Bellway East Midlands, will comprise a total of 146 three- and four-bedroomed houses. Over three quarters of the homes have been sold.

Now that 89 families have moved in, a further 35 homes are under construction, and 22 properties remain for sale.

And business owners say they are excited about the prospect of the influx of new people.

Jenny Dunville, 48, owner of Alexsa Beauty & Holistic Studio, is looking forward to welcoming people to the area.

She said: “It can only mean good things for us, I suppose – it’s new clients ultimately.

“We have been here for 21 years, so we are established, and we do have a really loyal client base but it’s always nice to have new ones too!

“We are in a purely residential area, so we are the only commercial property here, so we are a little bit off the beaten track.

“It is always nice when new houses do get built so we can go out and drop a few leaflets around to let people know we are literally just around the corner.

“We suffered for nine months during the lockdown but since we reopened it’s been amazing – we’ve been really busy.”

Mansfield pubs have been busy since Covid-19 restrictions were eased, and one pub manager said she would be glad to see even more people through the doors.

Sarah Atkinson, 37, general manager of Widecombe Fair Pub and Grill, said: “It is something that would really excite us.

“We are always happy to see new people in the area.

“It has been super busy recently and we have had good support from the local community.

“More people coming in would be great.”

The final homes to be sold will include the two showhomes, the fourbedroom Laurel and Worcester house types.

Prices start at £220,000 for a threebedroom semi-detached home.

Julie Wild, sales manager for Bellway East Midlands, said: “80 percent of the homes at our Berry Hill development have now been sold, with construction work progressing at a good pace.

“This development has been popular with buyers due to its setting within a purpose-built village neighbourhood.

“Residents are part of a wider new community which is focussed around a thriving village centre, with plans for a school, health centre, shops, cafes and other social spaces on site.

“The location is also good for commuters with excellent road connections to the A60 for Nottingham, the A617 for Chesterfield or Newark-on-trent, and the M1.

“Due to this, demand has come from both local people and those relocating.

“We have seen people from out of the area visit after being recommended by a friend.

“The properties at Berry Hill offer good value for money and are suited to a range of people who want to enjoy both close proximity to the vibrant town centre of Mansfield and also life within a purpose-built community.”

Work is due to be completed on the site by the end of this year.
