Faces of men who killed their brother

-

POLICE have released pictures of two men convicted of stabbing their younger brother to death after a family feud.

Photos of brothers David and Samuel Rogers have been issued by West Midlands Police.

They were convicted of fatally stabbing Thomas Rogers as he sat in a car in Birmingham.

David Rogers, 32, of Nora Street, South Shields, was found guilty of murder.

Samuel Rogers, 30, of St Michael’s Street, in Sutton-in-ashfield, was cleared of murder but found guilty of manslaughter.

Two other men – Ryan Hurt, 22, of Peel Crescent, Mansfield, and Macauley Welby, 22, of no fixed address – were found not guilty of murder.

Welby was also acquitted of possessing an offensive weapon.

Sentencing of the brothers has been adjourned until October 7.

Birmingham Crown Court was told that, after falling out with his family, Thomas had gone to live with his mother and had said several times he was going to knock David out.

In July last year he moved to Birmingham and there was an incident when Samuel Rogers, who lived in Mansfield, had the windows at his home smashed.

On August 22 the brothers drove down to Birmingham, the court was told. As they went along Bristol Road they saw Thomas in an Astra being driven by Diane Close.

They stopped in front of the Astra and David Rogers, Samuel Rogers and Welby got out.

David and Samuel Rogers were both armed with knives while Welby had a sledgehammer which he used to attack the Astra.

Samuel Rogers filmed what went on as his brother went to the Astra and stabbed Thomas through the open passenger window.

The victim was in an ambulance on the way to hospital when he suffered a cardiac arrest and paramedics were unable to revive him.
