PROGRESS continues on the huge new Fairham neighbourhood where 3,000 new homes will eventually be built just south of Clifton.

Another housebuilder has been given the go-ahead to construct almost 100 houses as part of the vast, multi-million-pound development.

Redrows, one of the largest housebuilders in Britain, has been given permission to build 93 new homes.

Ryan O’sullivan, sales director at Redrow East Midlands, said: “We are delighted to be bringing more much-needed new homes to Nottinghamshire.

“We understand that the priorities of prospective homebuyers have changed over the last year, with proximity to green, open space, community spirit and easy transport connections high on the agenda.”

Fairham has been described as “one of the largest housing and employment developments in the East Midlands”.

Fairham, known as Clifton Pastures, will be brought forward in phases over a 10 to 15-year period - and the tram network could also be extended from Clifton towards the new development, and possibly on to East Midlands Airport.

The site is located to the south of Clifton, off the A453 Remembrance Way, near the village of Barton in Fabis.

People have said the neighbourhood has the potential to become the “second West Bridgford”.

A sales centre and show-home are set to open on site next year.

The latest homes will consist of a mix of two-, three- and fourbedrooms.

As part of the new development, Redrow will also be contributing towards improving the area, helping to fund affordable housing, two new schools and improved bus services.

Mr O’sullivan said: “We were the first housebuilder to commit to the new neighbourhood being created here, which once complete, will form a brand new, sustainable and desirable location to live.

“We’re anticipating that this development will be incredibly popular - and we’d encourage anyone looking to purchase a home to register their interest as soon as possible.”

Vision Express has also declared its interest in opening a new production facility at the Fairham Business Park.
