Lees a doubt for Terriers

-

HUDDERSFIELD Town could be without key defender Tom Lees when they face Nottingham Forest on Thursday.

As Steve Cooper’s Reds fell to a 2-0 defeat away to Middlesbrough, the Terriers were involved in the only other game to go ahead on Sunday, coming from behind to beat 10-man Blackpool at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Lees was carried off in the first half.

He was caught by an elbow from Gary Madine when challenging for the ball just past the half-hour mark. The game was stopped for almost 10 minutes as he received treatment.

The centre-back will have a scan to assess his head injury, though he was described as “stable” after being knocked out.

“Lees’ status is unclear at this stage but if he has suffered a concussion he will not be able to play a part in the midweek game at the City Ground under FA protocols, which stipulate that players cannot return to full playing duties for at least six days,” reported Yorkshirelive.

Huddersfield could have defender Levi Colwill available against Forest, though, after the Chelsea youngster was absent against the Seasiders due to illness.

Three points at the weekend lifted Carlos Corberan’s side into the top six, while the Reds missed their chance to break into the play-off spots as they fell to only their second loss under Cooper.

The result made it back-to-back wins for the Terriers, having gone four games without a victory prior to that.

“It was important psychologically for the team to recover the feeling of winning,” said Corberan.

“To win two games in a row is always tough to achieve in the Championship. Now we are in a dynamic where we haven’t lost in the last four games.

“The table now is not important, what is important for me is to see how we can improve our performances and make the results the consequences of our positive performances.”
