Most common street names

-

A NEW survey has revealed the most common street names in the UK. The analysis ranks their occurrence and the average price that a house on a namesake street can go for.

National housebuilder St Modwen Homes formed a list of every named street in the UK from Ordnance Survey, studying how often a keyword appeared. These keywords included colours, animals, men’s names, and women’s names. The average value of houses on these streets was also calculated using Rightmove data.

Among the categories, colours were the most popular. ‘Green’ leads the way with 1,625 streets using the colour in its name. Among the top eight colour street names, ‘brown’ was the most expensive street to live on, with house prices averaging £432,500. The most affordable was ‘rose’ at £205,154.

‘Goose’ was both the most popular animal name and the most expensive, with 14 streets containing houses valued on average at £450,000. Amongst the other animal names that appeared, the most affordable was ‘eagle’, with the average property price at £211,667.

‘Mary’ was the most common name overall, with 46 streets using the popular name. The most popular men’s name was ‘Peter’, which, coincidentally, is also the highest value male name with the average property price, at £468,625. Out of all the names, streets with the name ‘Ann’ in them contained the most expensive homes, with the average property costing £995,000.

St Modwen Homes has a site in Eastwood, Nottingham with developments across the East Midlands.
