City centre pod gym is closed and up for rent
SIGN SAID ‘TEMPORARILY CLOSED DUE TO COVID CASES’
A CITY centre gym has closed and been placed up for rent after declaring it was “temporarily closed due to Covid cases”.
The Fitpod 25 gym on Upper Parliament street offered workout pods for busy city centre gymgoers who were looking for fast-paced sessions.
The gym only opened in May last year before closing less than a year later. It has been placed on the market since early April.
A sign on the door told customers it was closed because of Covid but the gym has now been put up for sale by Innes England. It was previously a furniture shop but it is being marketed as a potential shop on the ground floor. The second floor will also be available although both are listed separately.
Staff at the gym placed a sign on the door that said: “We are temporarily closed due to Covid cases within the gym.”
The gym was created by Nathan Newton-willington after he heard from customers at his former gym about how monotonous exercising could be. The gym also held classes as well as the pods. The pods were designed to be a mini private gym where customers could get instruction on how to work out or just access equipment in a quieter environment. There has been no further updates by the staff to say what will happen to Fitpod and the gym is still listed as open on Google. Innes England noted that the pods would be removed prior to a new tenant taking over. The current asking price for the property is £3,750 per month for the 2,435 sq ft property. “The property is currently fitted out as a bespoke fitness studio. This will be removed prior to completion. Please note, all photos were taken prior to the previous tenant’s occupation and fit-out.” Reviews of the gym had been positive. Apart from the notice stating Covid as a reason for its closure, there are no other details about why it was forced to close.
