ROLL UP! ROLL UP! COME AND EXPLORE OUR SITES BY BIKE

-

There are plenty of ways to explore the parkland and woodland areas at the National Trust places near you. Many have walking routes and cycle trails and May is a beautiful time of year to see them at their best.

Comer Woods, part of the 3,000-acre Dudmaston Estate, near Bridgnorth in Shropshire, can welcome visitors 365 days of the year. Thanks to funding from Sport England, a multi-use 5k Explorer Trail is suitable for little legs, walkers and cyclists. This picturesque route through woodland, a meadow and past pools, is perfect for those who want to take in the surroundings at a gentle pace. A refreshments hut, toilets and picnic benches make it a great family day out.

At Calke Abbey in Derbyshire, the Tramway Trail winds in a figure of eight through woodland, farmland and pasture.

No bike? No problem. You can hire one (and helmet) from Calke Explore. Bikes are also available to hire at Clumber Park in Nottinghamshire, where there are more than 20 miles of trails suitable for all ages and abilities.

In Cambridgeshire, you can hire bikes along with trailers, child seats and even a tandem to explore the nature reserve at Wicken Fen, and at Blickling in Norfolk you’ll also find a cycle hire centre and miles of trails.

Amid the beautiful rolling hills of Suffolk at Ickworth, choose from two circular routes that wind their way through the estate. Both routes offer stunning views and plenty of places to stop and enjoy a picnic.

Though some of our trails are rugged and uneven, we also have stretches at many of our places suitable for buggies or wheelchairs.

Please check the details for each place online before visiting.
