Stars take to social media to celebrate as ‘dreams come true’ for ‘family’

-

NOTTINGHAM Forest players were quick to jump on social media and celebrate Tuesday night’s penalty shootout victory at the end of the Championship play-off semi-final second leg against Sheffield United.

Brice Samba was the shootout hero, saving three penalties from Oliver Norwood, Conor Hourihane and Morgan Gibbs-white to send the Reds to Wembley Stadium without even having to take their fifth spotkick at the City Ground.

The 28-year-old also pulled off a series of stunning saves earlier on in the match to keep the visitors from extending their advantage on the night.

At the other end of the pitch, Brennan Johnson was Forest’s goalscoring hero who opened the scoring in the first half.

The 20-year-old then stepped up to take the Reds’ first penalty and again gave them a lead that they would this time see out by taking advantage of Norwood’s miss.

Both heroes of the Championship play-off campaign took to social media in the aftermath to celebrate their achievements. Johnson gave supporters a glimpse inside the dressing room by sharing a photo taken alongside Djed Spence and Alex Mighten accompanied by the caption: “Off to Wembley with my family”.

Samba also shared a message, starting with a nod to the chants from supporters at the City Ground of “Samba Samba Samba...” before adding, “I and we really want to thank all the fans, through the difficulty we did it all together tonight. The strength you gave me. I’ll never forget that. One last step, we have conquered and we will conquer still. The message is accompanied by the hashtags “dream come true” and “god is great”.
