Zinckernagel linked to Olympiacos move
WATFORD’S Philip Zinckernagel has been placed on a transfer ‘list’ by Olympiacos as an exit from Vicarage Road looms.
The 27-year-old winger is contracted to the Hornets until 2026 and they are not actively looking to offload him but they might cash in if an offer meets their valuation.
Zinckernagel scored six times and contributed seven assists in the Championship last season to help Nottingham Forest win promotion to the Premier League.
Reports in Greece now claim he could be on his way to link up with Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis’ other club, Olympiacos.
Greek journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos tweeted: “Philip Zinckernagel, who played on loan at Nottingham Forest from Watford, is on Olympiacos’ list. Negotiations ongoing, not an easy task but Zinckernagel is on Olympiacos’ list.”
The Nottingham Post understands the Danish winger is highly regarded at Vicarage Road and that their plans for the winger’s season will be determined once the squad return for pre-season.
Zinckernagel joined the Hornets from Norwegian outfit Bodo/glimt on a five-and-a-half-year deal in January 2021.
Asked about his future, he has previously said: “I try to stay as much as I can in the moment, being at Forest and be the best of myself here, and then maybe take a decision after the season.
“I guess it kind of depends what happens to Forest and what happens to Watford as well. But the plan is obviously I’ll go back to Watford, that’s where I have a contract, that’s where I am being paid and where I’m supposed to be.”
