NOTTINGHAM’S Line Of Duty star Vicky Mcclure joined the line-up at Splendour with her Dementia Choir and Brit nominee Tom Grennan.

Vicky and the choir were being filmed for a new BBC documentary.

The actress said that playing to a hometown crowd was a dream of hers.

But, despite her success on stage and screen. the Baftawinning star admitted to nerves before she went on stage.

“The best way to describe it is a dream come true.

“I come here every year and it’s my favourite festival.

“It’s been my dream since we started this choir to play here,” she said.

“There are definite nerves and excitement all at the same time.

“When I’m with the choir, I think that will help to calm me down.

“They will be taking it in their stride a lot more than me as I’m feeling nervous but I’m confident they will absolutely smash it.”

She added: “I’m really looking forward to watching Craig David today and I want to see the choir.

“There are loads of great people here.

“The Happy Mondays I always want to see, as I love Shaun and Bez.

“I’m looking forward to seeing the choir on stage and educating people about dementia,” she said.

The Dementia Choir was formed in 2019 as part of a documentary filmed by Vicky for BBC One that examined the role that music can play in helping people living with the condition.

The documentary went on to be nominated for a Bafta award and the award-winning actress has been working with the choir ever since.

Vicky opened up in the series about caring for her grandmother, Iris, who died with the condition.

She went on to form the choir to see if music could help to make a difference after being inspired by Iris. Her new documentary will be aired on BBC in the autumn.
