the club and supporters and something we are both really looking forward to.”

The demand for tickets sky-rocketed following the Magpies’ first win over Eastleigh at the Silverlake Stadium last Saturday, seeing them return to the top of the table when Wrexham could only draw with Wealdstone.

But speaking before the sell-out announcement, Alexander made it clear that he was confident of beating the previous record.

“We of course would like to beat the record one more time,” he said.

“It was a fantastic day last year against Solihull and we would like to make that record a little bit more comfortable.”

The Magpies currently have the second-highest average attendance in the National League, with 7,238 fans on average coming to support Luke Williams’ side at Meadow Lane. Wrexham have top spot in the attendance league.

But more than once Notts have exceeded their average, most notably in their 1-0 win over the Welsh side side last month, when almost 11,000 packed inside Meadow Lane on a Tuesday evening.

Alexander says those not used to seeing the Magpies can expect to see some great football and some goals to go with it.

“I think the team are definitely going to be given a boost if more people are in the stadium,” he said.

“The team are top of the league currently and we are playing some great football this year, great to watch, and scoring a lot of goals.

“But I think it will be a really good day for people who are not used to going to the games.”

With the Premier League season currently on a break, it offers the chance for fans of Nottingham Forest to support their neighbours, too.

“It is great to have their support, they are of course very welcome to come across the short distance and watch us play and, hopefully, we can put on a good performance for them but most importantly our fans,” added Christoffer.
