Death on the ocean waves...

- By PAUL DRURY

OVERBOARD! Switch. Also available on PC ★★★★

CAN you get away with murder?

This deliciously dark challenge is at the centre of Overboard!, which opens with you pushing your husband to his death from the top deck of a cruise liner.

You then spend the rest of the journey trying to cover up your crime and throw suspicion on to one or other of your fellow passengers.

As you navigate your way round the ship and indulge in apparent small talk with the intriguing crew of characters, you slowly realise how you might conceal the truth and frame someone else for the deed, but you won’t succeed first time – each replay suggests new ways to get a little further in weaving your web of lies.

The ingenious premise and witty dialogue make this one of my favourite games of the year and you can buy it as a special edition physical release, paired with the equally stylish 80 Days, from gamesrocket.com

TAIKO NO TATSUJIN: RHYTHM FESTIVAL Switch ★★★★

SOME people have skeletons in their cupboards. I have a dusty collection of plastic instruments, from the maracas that made Samba De Amigo such a joy to the various guitars that came with Rock Band and Guitar Hero.

Taiko no Tatsujin threatens to add to the clutter as you can buy it bundled with a drum and two sticks, allowing you to bash along in time to the beats that scroll past you at increasing speed and rhythmical intricacy.

You can, however, still join in the fun by using the buttons on your Switch or take the middle option and play air drums with a Joy-con detachable controller in each hand.

The tunes are as bright and bouncy as the visuals and performing a drum roll is always a pleasure, whatever control method you use.

Plus, it’s made me want to dust off my Donkey Konga bongos and see if my Gamecube still works.
