IN the autumn statement the Conservati­ves announced £55 billion in tax rises and spending cuts.

At a time of record inflation, when people’s incomes are not keeping up with costs, we are going to see local services cut and standards of living decline. So who is to blame for this?

Analysis by the independen­t Resolution Foundation suggests that Liz Truss’s mini-budget cost the Treasury £30bn.

Does this mean that if another party was in power things would be half as bad?
