Arrest over theft of ipad and laptop
POLICE have arrested a man after a high-value laptop and ipad were stolen from a student house in Nottingham.
The laptop – worth more than £1,500 – and a rucksack containing an ipad and personal belongings were taken from a shared house in Bute Avenue, Radford, on October 8.
Tracking software enabled police to track the ipad to a repair shop. Following further investigation, a suspect was identified.
On Wednesday, November 16, a 34-year-old was arrested on suspicion of burglary after being located in Oakdale Road, Bakersfield. He has since been bailed pending further investigation.
Inspector Ben Lawrence, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Thanks to good work by officers, a student has been reunited with her stolen ipad and a suspect arrested.
“The investigation remains ongoing and we are working hard to recover the stolen laptop, which belonged to a second student living at the property and was worth in excess of £1,500.
“That student was enjoying a night out when he took a call from a housemate to say the laptop had been taken in a burglary. This was very distressing for him and could have easily been avoided had the property been left secure.
“Burglary is a very upsetting crime and so I would again remind people to keep their doors and windows locked to avoid becoming a victim.”
