Music fans enraged by N-dubz no-show

ARENA GIG CANCELLED AT LAST MINUTE DUE TO ILLNESS

MUSIC fans have been left raging after hip-hop trio N-dubz called off their show at Nottingham’s Motorpoint Arena at the very last minute on Tuesday night.

The group said it was due to illness, with singer Dappy unable to perform and advised by doctors to rest.

The postponed show is part of the group’s Back To The Future tour which began on November 7 in Newcastle and was due to finish in Manchester on December 4.

N-dubz, which consists of Tulisa Contostavlos, Dappy and Fazer, were criticised online for the last-minute announcement.

Former Celebrity Big Brother star Dappy warned fans hours before the cancellation that he was feeling unwell.

The rapper wrote: “This always happens. [Too] many back to back shows without no proper breaks. Voice basically gone, flu, chest infection etc etc.”

In another story, he said that his “voice was fully gone now” and added “Nottingham, I pray things change in the next hour with me”.

However, it took until minutes before the group were due on stage for the gig to be called off, after the support acts had already performed.

Kevin Cooper, who regularly writes reviews for the Nottingham Post, was among the crowd as a music fan and looking forward to the show.

He said: “It was a very disappointed Motorpoint Arena crowd who had waited for three-and-a-half hours to see N-dubz perform their second show as part of their Back To The Future tour, only to be informed ten minutes after the start time that Dappy was too ill to perform.

“With tickets for the tour selling out within minutes of going on sale, this was a highly-anticipated show. But on entering the Arena, rumours were quickly circulating that there might be a problem, and when the staff were asked, they were unable to comment.

“If Dappy knew so much earlier that he was struggling, perhaps the sensible thing to have done was to cancel and rearrange. Thankfully, this Nottingham crowd behaved impeccably.”

Other disappointed fans took to social media to air their frustration.

“I get if artists are ill but when @ Thedappy knew he wasn’t performing 3 hours before you announced it and 5 mins after you were due on stage is not on,” one said online.

The postponed show has been rescheduled to take place on December 7.

In a statement, Motorpoint Arena told fans: “We’re very pleased to announce that the N-dubz show postponed from last night will now take place on Wednesday, December 7, 2022.” The Arena said that seated tickets will remain valid for the new date, however those with standing tickets will have new ones re-issued to them and only these re-issued tickets will be valid on the new date.

Refunds are available for anyone who cannot make the new date.

N-dubz consists of Dappy – whose real name is Costadinos Contostavlos – his cousin Tulisa Contostavlos and Fazer, real name Richard Rawson.

On social media, N-dubz wrote: “We’re so sorry we had to cancel the show tonight.

“We tried to do everything possible to make the show happen, but a doctor advised at the very last minute that Dappy was unable to perform and needed to rest tonight.

“The O2 Arena show tomorrow and the rest of the tour will still be going ahead. We will make a further statement after Dappy has seen the doctor again.”

On entering the Arena, rumours were quickly circulating that there might be a problem.
