Hospitals’ IT woes resolved
AN IT problem at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust has been resolved after causing significant delays.
On Wednesday, long ambulance waits and overcrowding at Nottingham’s Emergency Department at the Queen’s Medical Centre were caused by the issues.
The trust issued a brief statement on Wednesday evening in which it said the issue was “significantly” impacting its ability to process samples, and slowing down patient discharges, resulting in long ambulance waits and overcrowding.
It meant that some planned procedures and outpatient appointments had to be postponed yesterday at the QMC and City Hospital, because the IT issues slowed down clinical decision-making by “significantly impacting” processing and reporting on blood samples.
However, the trust confirmed yesterday that the issues have since been resolved and they are now able to work as normal in the affected areas of work.
A spokesperson said: “The position in our Emergency Department (at the Queen’s Medical Centre) is much improved.
“We would like to thank our health and social care partners for their support and our staff for their continued hard work.”
