Tributes to ‘devoted dad’ who died in nuclear plant incident

THE wife of Nottinghamshire man Jason Waring described her late husband as a “devoted and loving father who did everything for me, his sons and his daughters”.
Mr Waring, 48, died in an incident at the Hinkley Point C construction site in Somerset on Sunday, November 13.
Avon and Somerset Police said Mr Waring died from his injuries.
His wife Sarah released a statement through the force in which she paid tribute to her ‘loyal’ husband.
“Jason was a devoted and loving father who did everything for me, his sons and his daughters,” she said. “He was also a great friend, very loyal to many, and was always the life and soul of the party. We will miss him terribly.”
Mr Waring was working for Bylor, one of the main contractors at the Somerset site.
He had started working on the Hinkley Point C project in 2018. Staff at Hinkley Point C have also been offered support through EDF and Bylor.
Project director Chris Wilkinson said: “Since joining the team, Jason had become a much respected and well-liked member of the team.
“He was an excellent supervisor, and his colleagues will remember him fondly as someone who was fun to spend time with.
“The whole team is shocked and upset by his death. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this extremely difficult time.”

According to EDF Energy, the “construction traffic incident” occurred during “planned work activities” at the Somerset nuclear power station, and the incident is being investigated by both the police and the Health & Safety Executive, Somerset Live previously reported. Avon and Somerset Police was called to the site of the incident at 8.30am. Work on Hinkley Point C was paused following the tragedy but has since resumed. A fundraiser set up by a friend of Mr Waring has so far raised more than £94,700 to support the Waring family.
Set up by Luke Mcgrew, a statement on the page reads: “My good friend Jason tragically lost his life at work. He worked hard to provide for his family and always had a good sense of humour, and was liked by many people across the project with his northern wit, could we all donate generously to help the family in these hard circumstances.”
