The price is light when it comes to festive decoration
Amongst all the gloom around escalating energy prices there is a glimmer of hope for festive cheer as it has been revealed we won’t need to ditch the decorations.
Data from energy-saving app Loop has found some Christmas lights cost from as little as 1p per hour. A set of 400 LED string lights could cost 8p per day, if left on for eight hours a day, under £3 over the festive period (from December 1 to January 6).
A three-piece lighted display could cost around £4.80 to run over the same 37 days and an inflatable light up snowman £8.80.
Meanwhile an extra fridge or freezer to chill extra festive food and drink, particularly an older, inefficient model could add £118 to energy bills.
