Police probe goes on after council arrests
DETECTIVES are continuing their enquiries after six arrests were made involving a number of Ashfield Independent councillors.
On November 16, Nottinghamshire Police arrested the individuals as part of their investigation into allegations of fraud and misconduct in public office.
Warrants were served as police simultaneously called at addresses in Sutton-in-ashfield, Kirkby-inashfield, Underwood and Stanton Hill. Of those arrested, three were arrested on suspicion of fraud and electoral offences, and others were questioned on suspicion of fraud, money laundering and misconduct in public office.
All six were subsequently released. Police said no further updates were available at this time.
