Daws steps down before Notts visit
SCUNTHORPE United interim boss Tony Daws has stepped down from his position ahead of Notts County’s trip to Glanford Park on Saturday.
Following the sacking of Keith Hill in September, the former Magpies striker took over the position for a second time but has now chosen to return to his role as academy manager.
The Iron have had a difficult start to the National League campaign and face the possibility of back-to-back relegations after falling into the fifth-tier last season.
Daws managed only two wins during his time as first-team interim manager, with only goal difference keeping them off the bottom of the table.
“I’d like to thank the owners for giving me the opportunity, the players for their efforts, all the club staff for their help and the fans for their support over the last three months,” said Daws.
Former Scunthorpe defender Michael Nelson will take over the interim first team manager role until further notice.
