GPS say NHS is on its knees
‘IT HAS BECOME IMPOSSIBLE TO DELIVER A SERVICE THAT DOES NO HARM’
TWO Nottinghamshire GPS have written a letter to their patients saying the NHS is “on its knees” and it has become “impossible to deliver a service that does no harm”.
Dr Ian Campbell and his GP partner Dr Claire Hatton, both doctors from the Jubilee Park Medical Partnership, co-authored the letter which was released yesterday.
This letter has coincided with the publication of a British Medical Association’s (BMA) report titled The Country is Getting Sicker. In their letter, Dr Campbell and Dr Hatton discuss the difficulties experienced to satisfy patient demand with the decreasing amount of resources.
In addition to concerns for the welfare of their patients, they also speak of fears for their staff. They say patient demand is resulting in abuse and aggression.
They wrote: “Four years ago, both of our practices at Jubilee Park Medical Practice did well when inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the NHS standards watchdog, both receiving certification of good quality practice. The harsh reality, however, is that we are now no longer able to deliver that same
POLICE investigating a building fire have released an image of a woman they believe could have important information.
Officers were called to Newcastle Street, Mansfield, after receiving reports that a derelict building was on fire.
The unused building was damaged in the blaze, which took place at around 1.45am on October 17.
A joint investigation between the police and fire service has since determined that the fire was more than likely started deliberately.
Inquiries are still ongoing into the incident, with police releasing a CCTV image of a woman they believe could help them with their investigation.
PC Abigail Green, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We have reasons to believe this fire was started on purpose, so we are determined to find whoever was responsible.
“Arson is an incredibly serious and dangerous offence, which can ruin or even end the lives of anyone unfortunate to be caught up in it.
“We believe the woman in this picture could have valuable information about what happened, so we would naturally like to speak to her as soon as possible.
“Anyone who recognises this woman is urged to contact the police straight away by calling 101, quoting incident 37 of 17 October 2022.
