Scarpa to join Reds on Greek training camp
NOTTINGHAM Forest have confirmed Gustavo Scarpa will be part of the training camp squad travelling to Greece next week.
The one-cap Brazil international officially joins the Reds on January 1 after being announced as their latest signing but can train with the team ahead of that date.
Scarpa, 28, arrived in England earlier this week and had some time to settle in the city before being due to fly out to the Greek capital, Athens, with the full squad.
Head coach Steve Cooper and company have a six-day training camp taking place in those warmer climes next week. As well as training, Forest also face a pair of mid-season friendly matches against Greek Super League sides Atromitos and – fellow Evangelos Marinakis -owned club – Olympiacos.
Therefore, Tuesday (December 6) may be the first time supporters could see Scarpa in action for the club against Chris Coleman’s Atromitos side.
A further opportunity comes four days later when Olympiacos are their opponents on Saturday (December 10).
Plenty of familiar faces are set to be in action in the latter.
Real Madrid legend Marcelo now calls Piraeus home and played in a friendly against Huddersfield Town on Friday, as did former Forest loanee Pajtim Kasami.
